Jacqueline or "Jackie" as she was lovingly called, was born on May 10, 1955, in San Antonio, TX. She received most of her education in Bryan, TX, eventually graduating from Bryan High School in 1973. She began her postsecondary studies at Blinn Community College in Brenham, TX. She met and married her college sweetheart. They spent two years at Blinn before transferring to Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX. Although she would have one daughter while attending SHSU, she was pregnant with twins when she graduated from there in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching in Library Science with a minor in English.
She began teaching in Victoria
ISD that same year and taught there for 7 years before leaving and returning to her hometown of
Bryan, TX in 1985. Over the course of her 19 years in education, she taught language arts and reading
and stressed the importance of getting an education beyond high school not only to her daughters but
to her students as well.
Her daughters hope that the scholarship will be used to help further the
education of students and therefore change the lives of their families for years to come. In their mother's words, if you “Stay Focused” on what you want to accomplish, the sky is the limit for you! Best
wishes in all your future endeavors!
